M6083

Now this pattern M6083 has been on deck for awhile. I was a little afraid to tackle it because I wasn't sure how it would fair on me and the fact that it is a jump suit. But it turned out pretty nice and I received plenty of comments at the event I wore it to.

Pattern Description: Jumpsuits that have side front pockets, elastic casings and stitched hem.

Pattern Sizing: (14-20) I chose the size 20

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes, I think so.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really liked the outcome of the pattern. I did not like all the altering I had to do to the pattern.

Fabric Used: Poly knit

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I had to alter the waist and hips, crotch, and added 1 1/2' to the bodice lenght. I also used 1/2" and 3/8" seam allowance in different areas throughout the garment.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will sew this patten again and I also recommend it.

Conclusion: I was very happy with the end result of this pattern.

GUESS WHAT!! I HAVE NEW PICS IN THIS OUTFIT!!!
I have not worn this jumpsuit in a year.  I decided to wear it to a comedy show.  Since my weight loss I had to do some alterations to it.  I altered the front cross area and the crotch area.  This is how my alterations turned out and what it looks like now on me.

M6044 & S2346

For this project M6044 my son chose the fabric and style.  He wanted something very different that no one else has. He wanted a black shirt with red/black check contrast.  This contrast was placed in the cuff and collar.  The contrast in the cuff will only show if he turned the cuff up.

Also along with the shirt we made the accompanying vest from Simplicity 2346 .

Pattern Description: Men's vest.

Pattern Sizing: Size AA 34-42. I altered the pattern down to a 32.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes until I got to bagging the vest. The instructions seemed a bit mirky.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? No dislikes. It turned out great.
Fabric Used: Cotton Calico

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I altered the pattern to a size 32 because he is very slim and he likes a more tapered look.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes
Conclusion: Very simple with plenty of variations.

V2891

S4760

S2406

Pattern Description: Misses' dress in three lengths with sleeve variations.

Pattern Sizing: 6-14, I chose 12

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? They were very easy to follow until I got to the sleeve. Originally I was going to do view B, but the instruction for this view were very confusing. I decided not to do view B. I settled on View D.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?

I liked everything about the pattern except the sleeve instructions.

Fabric Used: I am not sure what type of fabric this is because my daughter picked it out.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The back opening was a bit much for my daughter at her age. I shortened the back opening.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I would definately try it again and I do recommend it to others.

Conclusion: Love the look.

S5068

M6578

S2305

This is a Cynthia Rowley pattern that my daughter picked out.  She like Cynthia's patterns.  The fabric is something that she picked up so I really don't know what kind it is. The main characteristic o this fabric, is that it is crinkly. I had a hard time trying to not iron out the crinkles.

sleeve detail

I had also made the clutch purse that was apart of the pattern in two different fabrics.

Pattern Description: Misses' dresses and skirts, each in two lengths and purse.

Pattern Sizing: Size 4-12, I chose size 12.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the ease of the pattern and the detailing.

Fabric Used: Undetermined. My daughter picked it out. Whenever she picks out fabric she does not check to see what it is.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:No alterations, but if I make it again I would make it a little bit longer. I used one of my decorative stitches from my machine. For the purse I did not use grommets, I decided to use ribbon and embroidery.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes

Conclusion: My daughter loved the finished garment. I also made the purse that went along with it.

M5850

This was something that I did for my daughter back in February 2011.  She seemed to be very happy with it. M5850 gave several options to choose from. My daughter chose the one shoulder bubble skirt option.

Pattern Description: Lined dresses are 4" above the knee and have back zipper closure. Package features interchangeable components to create your own design.

Pattern Sizing: (12-18) I used a size 14.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Somewhat. The instructions sometimes seemed to be all over the place due to the interchangeable components.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the fact that you are able to decide how you want the dress to look.

Fabric Used: Polyester satin.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: none

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and Yes

Conclusion: over all it was somewhat easy. I did this early on in my sewing journey. I did not know what I know now. and to me it turned out just fine.

MCCALL 6700

Now this was a project that I really enjoyed. I had the fabric for awhile now. It is Charmeause fabric and when I saw M6700 I knew that it would make a beautiful garment.

Pattern Description: Pullover dress has fitted, mock wrap bodice, shoulder ties, elasticized shoulders and raised (seamed) waist, fitted, narow hem, thread carriers and self belt.

Pattern Sizing: (16-24) I used size 22

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were pretty much easy to follow. I did have a problem once I got to the shoulder ties. The directions for the shoulder ties were a little confusing to me. I ended up winging it and learning what to do from my mistake.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked everything about the pattern except the directions for the shoulder ties.

Fabric Used: Charmeuse

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added 3" to the waist and 4" to the hip. It calls for knit fabric but I decided to use Charmeuse. I also closed the front and back opening. It was very deep.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I will be sewing this again and I do recommend to others.

Conclusion: I really like this dress. It calls for knits but I like Charmeuse or something similar. If I were to use knit I would make it a size or two smaller because this is alot of dress. You can't quite tell from the picture on the pattern.
